Boombie

I don't know where the term boombie came from but my father used it all the time whenever one of the kids would get a bump or bruise.  I don't remember him using that word while I was growing up but somewhere around the time that Sister Bear was born the word boombie appeared in our vocabulary.

Well, I have a boombie.  I don't know what I did but I have tendinitis of the right elbow.   It couldn't possibly be Ravelypics knitting.  You know the two weeks where I essentially went berserk knitting so that I could finish my Clapotis plus spin and knit my sassy Confetti Reign hat.  You know the two weeks where I knitted more than I have in the whole last year of knitting combined. Oh no, that couldn't possibly be it.

Regardless, it hurts to knit and type...two of my favorite things.  Fortunately it doesn't affect spinning or scooping alpaca poo (whew, I was worried for a minute) so I will take a couple of weeks off of knitting, which is awful because I have three new patterns I want to knit off my handspun yarn.  Three really cool patterns that I've been excited about plus one project I need/want to finish.

Well, we will see what the next few weeks bring without knitting.  I do have a bunch of fiber I dyed up and have been carding.  I can start spinning it to see how it turns out as yarn. The first batt I have is called daffodil...yes, it's shade of yellow and it makes me want to see daffodils the the front garden. So...maybe you'll be seeing some new creations here and on Etsy in the next few weeks.

You know me...give me lemons and I will make an awesome lemonade roving and yarn.

  1. Take care of that elbow. I know how hard it is to give up something you love to do but it is better to take a week or two off then to have to quit altogether. I can't wait to see the new lemonade roving & yarn!! Bring on spring and the daffodils!

  2. I hear ya! The other night my hand started hurting, and I'm starting to worry that between my day job (I'm a writer) and my hobbies (knitting/crocheting/spinning), I'm going to get carpal tunnel. Ack! Time to quit the day job, b/c I'm NOT giving up my fiber addictions! :)
