Last week I cast on for the beginning of the Winter's Rhythm KAL (Knit Along) with KellyJ of Your Local Yarn Shop and Jill June of Studio June. For the next month you are going to see a lot of posts from me regarding this KAL because I am determined to finish the caplet with the rest of the group during the month of the designated KAL. I've yet to finish a project where a time line was set. Will it happen this time? Should I stress now? Oh, you know I will...but I also intend to have fun and enjoy every inch of knitting on the fabulous yarn that Studio June has created while knitting KellyJ's sassy pattern. One reason I am really enjoying this KAL is because KellyJ has opened up her yarn shop for late hours every Friday night so the members of the KAL can gather and knit together. Even though I consider myself a frustrated knitter, I do enjoy it. I love that it's portable and that you can be social with it. I have already met some new people while visiting the yarn shop and I look forward to ending my work week at one of my favorite places here in town surrounded by beautiful yarns and wonderful people.
Our first week's homework (yes, I said homework) was to complete the first chart in the pattern. Guess what I did. I completed the chart. Hooray! This is a first for me. Will I keep up the momentum?Well...stay tuned for next week to see. Oh, I also dyed up tons of fiber for a SAL (Spin Along) I will be hosting...more details to follow this week. I also have managed to squeeze in some spinning but by the time I get home at night the lighting is bad so hopefully the bad weather we are supposed to get this weekend doesn't come and I can get photos. I'm still procrastinating about the sewing of the bags made from weaving. Argh! Yes, for those of you who wonder how I do it all...really, sewing may be my kryptonite. tehehehe This month's focus really will be the knitting though. I am finding that I can't stretch myself as thin as I used to especially if I want to enjoy what I'm doing.

I'm playing around on blogs when I should be getting ready for work :/
ReplyDeleteI too procrastinate with sewing. But I look forward to seeing your finished product!
Andrea--I'm crossing my fingers that you will receive your package today!!
ReplyDelete...as far as the sewing goes...maybe you should just hand stitch them (or better yet, farm them out to your daughter to do!!) Giggle.
But really, if it's not your thing, it's just not. Find a local sewer who doesn't mind helping a bit and do a 'trade for services'!:)
Hugs--
Looking forward to seeing the results of your dyeing. A knit group KAL sounds like a great idea, can't wait to see more of it
ReplyDeleteI have been learning to crochet this week:)
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing weekend!
xo
Linda
Love the colors for your caplet!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!! Don't stress. Just enjoy. And looking forward to seeing the caplet when you are finished.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing to you tonight at YLYS. Thanks for all your help with my blog.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I see you have some really pretty fiber in your shop right now...maybe gonna have to go see. Happy Fiber Arts Friday Andrea!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you are spending Friday evening with the KAL folks. What a great way to start the weekend. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, good on you for doing less. This way you can focus on and enjoy what you're doing instead of worrying about the things you're not doing.
I really love the colors you chose for your capelet. I'm trying to focus on one or two things at a time lately, too, and it has been helping me feel like I'm more productive, actually!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can stay with the deadlines, because you're doing great so far!!!
Jess
Wow... beautiful colors! This is really inspiring me. I recently had a CAL catch my eye and I was toying with the idea... think I'm going to go for it. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello Andrea! I love the green yarn you are knitting and the pattern looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting! Have a great weekend! Teje
I love the pattern and yarn, they're really pretty! I'm excited to hear the details of your spin along!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern! Good for you for sticking with the time-line--always a struggle for me!
ReplyDeleteCan't remember the last time I actually finished a knitting project. I hope to get some vicarious satisfaction out of your success with this. Go girl!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, that first chart looks fun! Enjoy your KAL! And I look forward to hearing more about the SAL, too.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky to have a local group for knitting that you enjoy. I love having online crafting friends but it's not the same as finding a few people nearby and meeting in person.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet project and your color choices are wonderful, too.
ReplyDeleteI wish my LYS would do something like this. It would be so much fun.
I just joined a local knitter's guild and have yet to go to my first meeting. I might suggest something like this KAL and hope everyone might be into to it.
Happy Fiber Arts Friday and have a great weekend!
Don't stress over it! Enjoy the KAL and the commaraderie of fellow knitters.
ReplyDeleteOh, and: Sewing might be my kryptonite, too. I have so many ideas, but I never get around to them.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the momentum-maintaining! I love the colours you've chosen for your KAL. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the colors!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors , And meeting and/or exceeding goals is always motivating, Keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteI have never finished a knit along in the designated time frame. Yours is coming along nicely. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteYour group looks so fun! Your KAL looks great so far! Can't wait to see it progress.
ReplyDeleteYour KAL sounds like so much fun! Good luck staying on target with it. One of the best part of knitting is getting to spend time with the friendliest people around.
ReplyDeleteDo you know what makes this KAL the best? It's having the yarn creator, Jill June of Studio June, and the pattern writer, KellyJ of Your Local Yarn Shop, sit with you and participate. We are so very lucky here in Southwest Michigan to have many amazing pattern writers and fiber producers living here locally on top of me only living minutes from the best yarn shop I've ever visited. Really, if you ever visit Michigan...you need to visit Battle Creek and Your Local Yarn Shop.
ReplyDeleteThank you to everyone who linked in. I finally read through all of your blogs and I am in awe of all the projects and talent that was shared this week. Happy Fiber Arts Friday!
I'm late for friday but at least I showed up at all right? now to check out the other blogs, just need more time in the day!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to end the week in your favourite space and doing some knitting, which by the way looks lovely! I have to admit that when I go to my fibre-artists group I don't take anything that I have to think about because I invariably make a mistake....too much talking and no concentration LOL
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm in on this Friday fiberpalooza! Let's see if I can keep up with a fiber post every Friday - maybe I'll mix it up every now and then.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm not big on fiber deadlines either. Love the capelet colors!
Such an interesting idea! My last blog was on a Thursday... but that's close enough, right? I'll try to remember to check in on Fridays. Hopefully your definition of Fiber Arts includes weaving and spinning, too. It IS nice to chat with other fiber freaks....
